The project envisages deepening of the basin maneuvering area to T2A and port terminal Burgas-West, which will achieve new design depths. Reaching new, greater depths in the port area will allow the structural planning of ports to take into account the possibility of safe entry and mooring of larger ships and will provide the necessary prerequisites for the development of terminals. This will allow the handling of vessels up to 260 m long, up to 32 m wide, draught up to 14.5 m and DWT 80 000 tonnes and the use of existing cargo handling facilities so that about 100 000 20 ft equivalent units (TEU) can be further handled.
The implementation of the project will lead to a comprehensive and long-term solution to the current problems of approach and maneuvering of ships and the future needs for new maneuvering zones, in accordance with the investment projects of the port operators of the terminals located in the water area of the port of Burgas. Currently, there are no piers for container ships with a depth of 15.50 m at the terminals in the water area of the port of Burgas, as restrictive parameters for draught and length of ships have been introduced, which do not meet the parameters of the largest ship for which the respective quay wall is designed.
Main Objective: The main objective of the project is to achieve certain design parameters of the aquatory for approaching, maneuvering and docking the maximum estimated ships, thus providing access to the newly built port infrastructure in the eastern part of the port terminal Burgas-West for berth № 28.
Expected result: Achieved design depth (elevation -15.50 m -HP) to ensure the defined design parameters of the aquatory for approach, maneuvering and docking of the maximum estimated ships in the eastern part of the port terminal Burgas-West.
