A forum on the development of a sustainable blue economy in the Black Sea region brought together Bulgarian and international experts in Sofia

The Deputy Director General of the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.), Stella Atanasova, participated as a guest speaker in a prestigious two-day event related to the maritime industry, held on October 16-17 at the International Business School, Sofia. The event attracted a significant interest among participants, focusing on the projects and investments of BPI Co. aimed at reducing pollution due to shipping activities, as well as the company’s future steps towards the implementation of the concept for smarter, more sustainable, and safer ports.

During the High-Tech Summit for the Black Sea (HTS4BS), organized as a part of the BRIDGE-BS project, funded by the Horizon 2020 programme, key topics such as renewable marine energy, green and digital ports, blue biotechnology, circular economy, environmental monitoring and maritime security were discussed..

The event took place just before a seminar that followed a series of regional workshops of the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP), whose mission is to create a favorable environment for innovation and investment aimed at the sustainable use of marine and water resources, while tackling the harmful impact on the environment through scientific research and the development of innovative solutions.

The meetings were attended by stakeholders from the blue economy sector, including port authorities from the Black Sea region, research communities, as well as representatives of the European Commission, international organizations, business and industry.
