28 Май 2024

The Bulgarian Port Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) is presenting the work on deepening the water area in the Port of Burgas. The event, which will take place on 29 May 2024 in the maritime city, will include an on-site demonstration of the dredging works in the manoeuvring area near Burgas East Terminal 2/2A and Burgas West Port Terminal, as well as a presentation of the expected outcomes of the project.

The project "Capital Dredging - Basin between Burgas West Terminal and Burgas East Terminal 2/2A/" is intended to increase the depth pf the water area in the port to reach new design depths. Its implementation is also related to the construction of a new quay wall for berth 28 at Burgas West Terminal, part of the Burgas Public Transport Port.

The main objective of the project is to achieve certain design parameters of the water area for the approach, manoeuvring and berthing of the maximum-size ships, thus providing access to the newly built port infrastructure in the eastern part of the port terminal Burgas-West and creating conditions for attracting different types and volumes of cargo.

The capital dredging project implementation will result in a comprehensive and long-term solution regarding the approach and manoeuvring of ships and the future needs for new manoeuvring areas in accordance with the investment projects of the port operators of the terminals located in the water area of the Port of Burgas.

Project No BG16FFPR001-3.001-0005 "Capital dredging - basin between Terminal "Burgas West" and Terminal "Burgas East 2/2A/" is financed by the European Union's European Regional Development Fund through the Transport Connectivity Program 2021-2027, with national co-financing and through self-funding by the beneficiary – Bulgarian Port Infrastructure Company.
