BPI Co. to introduce a modern digital platform for ship handling in Bulgarian seaports

10 Ноември 2023

The Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) presents the new National System for Electronic Exchange of Information in Bulgarian Seaports (Bulgarian Port Community System - BulPCS) within the final event of the project, which will take place on 14 November 2023 in Burgas.

The implementation of the system is a significant step forward in extending the reach of digitalization and improving the efficiency and sustainability of transport and logistics chains. It is essential to simplify administrative procedures by reducing the use of paper and the time needed to complete each process at port terminals.

The digital platform developed ensures the secure and safe exchange of information between public and private sector stakeholders and is designed to improve the competitive performance of the port community. The main objective of the system is to optimize, manage and automate port and logistics processes, through the unified transmission of data linking transport and logistics chains.

The system standardises the exchange of messages between members of the port community by aggregating incoming information and making it available to community users according to their participation and access level. BulPCS provides a wide variety of services, such as easy, fast and efficient information exchange, electronic processing of customs declarations and one-stop submission of all information on ship arrivals, cargo handling and departures.

Project No. BG16M1OP001-4.002-0001 Development and implementation of a system for electronic exchange of information in the Bulgarian ports (Port Community System – PCS) is funded under Priority Axis 4 "Innovations in Management and Services - Implementation of modernized infrastructure for traffic management, improvement of transport safety and security of Operational Programme on Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014 – 2020.

The project applies the good European practices in the field of digitalization of information at seaports. Its implementation will increase the efficiency and transparency and improve information security and environmental sustainability.
