03 Ноември 2023
The Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) has launched the project to deepen the Port Terminal Burgas West. The contract with the Contractor has been signed and work is due to commence within days. The project implementation will allow the handling of some of the world‘s largest ships with drafts up to 14.5 m and 80,000 gross tons.
Reaching new, increased depth in the waters of Port of Burgas will enable the development of the terminals and create more favourable conditions for the terminal operators.
The work is to be divided into two phases. The first one includes all activities until the end of the year and will be financed by OP Transport and Transport Infrastructure. The second phase of the project is planned as part of the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027.
Following a public procurement procedure carried out by the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company, the "Cosmos Van Oord Consortium" Company, established pursuant to the Obligations and Contracts Act, composed of the Dutch company "Van Oord Dredging & Marine Contractors BV" and the Bulgarian "Cosmos Shipping", was awarded the contract. The value of the contract is BGN 69 983 779 excluding VAT and the period for completion of all works is 204 days.
