24 Май 2023

The first working day of the Burgas Planetarium began with a children’s star show and a virtual trip in space for the youngest guests. The new facility was opened on the eve of one of the most beloved Bulgarian holidays –May 24th, by the mayor of Burgas – Mr. Dimitar Nikolov and the Director General of the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) – Mr. Petar Seferov.

As if in a science fiction movie, children dressed as stars emerged from the Planetarium's spherical building to transport everyone present to the mysterious world of the galaxy with their magical dances. After the traditional blessing of waters, the eager visitors were able to experience the magic of the Universe, watching 2D and 3D real-time visualizations, using cutting-edge equipment.

During the celebration, the youngest visitors participated in exciting art workshops and made planet models. At the PlanetUm Children's Science Centre, kids took part in fun space-themed games. For all children wishing to visit the Planetarium and observe galaxies, planets and constellations, admission will be free on 1 June throughout the working day from 10.30 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

The Planetarium is another step by the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company towards the development of the Port's Public Access Area. The buildings of the Burgas Passenger Terminal, the iconic VTMIS Coastal Centеr and the International Congress Center, built by BPI Co., as well as the renovated warehouse “Magazia 1”, form the urban environment on the seafront, beloved by the citizens of Burgas and guests of the city.
