BPI Co. supported the 82th edition of the swimming marathon “Galata – Varna“

Kalina Nikolaeva and Antoniy Moraliyski from Varna finished first swimming the distance between Cape Galata and Brakewater Two at the Varna beach – their respective times were 1,02.53 h and 1,06.11 h, and were sufficient for them to win the 82th edition of the swimming marathon “Galata – Varna“. The sports competition, which has become a true feast of the city, took place on Agust 7, 2022 in the Bulgarian seaside “capital”, and BPI Co. awarded special prizes to the winners.
Over 200 participants from Bulgaria, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, Singapore, etc. measured their strength, courage and endurance in this event, made even more difficult by the strong wind. Due to the bad weather, the maraton was docontinued before the pre-set time had expired.
The traditional international swimming marathon “Galata – Varna“ takes place on an annual bases, every first Sunday of August. It is organized by the Professional Sports Club “Cherno More”, the Varna Municipality and the Bulgarian Navy. The straight line distance of the maraton is 4400 m, but due to the impossibility to follow a strict straight line in open water, without marked corridors, swimmers actually have to cover almost 5000 m from start to finish.
