The World Marine Aids to Navigation Day (WAtoN Day) is to take place on July 1, 2022. The prestigious event is to be hosted by Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.), and Burgas was chosen as the city, where the celebrations will be held for the first time in Bulgaria.

The Secretary General of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) Francis Zachariae is going to officially open the international conference, forming part of the event, at the International Congress Center Burgas.

The mission of the WAtoN Day is to improve public awareness, regarding the navigation aids (navaids). Modern navaids, including vessel traffic control systems (VTS), are complex and technologically advanced structures. Along with the traditional lighthouses, they combine and maintain the latest digital developments in this area.

Currently, Bulgaria is among the leading countries in the implementation of cutting-edge navaid technologies and in the digitalization of port services. BPI Co. operates some of the latest and high-tech systems, and the opportunity to host such an important event, is a significant recognition.
