With an exciting marine trip around Varna Bay and amusing gifts, Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company traditionally pleased young sailors on the International Day of the Seafarer. The celebrations were joined by children from the Municipal Children’s Complex Varna and prize-winners from the Children’s Sea Competition. They discovered some curious facts, about seafarer’ profession and learned how to make sea knots, and received information on the opportunities for marine education in Varna.

The celebration day ended with a concert at the Festival and Congress Centre Varna. The head of the Public Relations and Protocol Department at BPI Co. Mariela Ganchovska delivered an address on behalf of the Director General Anna Natova and personally on her own behalf greeted the attendees with a poem for the occasion.

The celebrations were organized by an Initiative Committee for the celebration of the International Day of the Seafarer – Varna Municipality, the Professional Seaferer’ Union and the Bulgarian Shipmasters Association. The event was organized with the cooperation of BPI Co., Executive Agency Maritime Administration, Varna Pilot Station Co Ltd, Varna Maritime Secondary School Sv. Nikolay Chudotvorets and the N. Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy.

In recent years, BPI Co. organizes independently or takes part in a number of socially responsible initiatives. One of them is the celebration of the International Day of the Seafarer, officially declared a day of celebration by the International Maritime Organization to emphasize the global significance of seafarer’s profession and its importance. Each year, various events are organized worldwide on June 25, aiming at reasing the public awareness of the enormous contribution of the seafarers for global economy.
