Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Co. became a member of the International Port Community System Association (IPCSA). The Association brings together worldwide port authorities, operators and users of the Port Community Systems and national coordinators for the European Maritime Single Window environment (EMSWe) to share expertize, good practices and procedures regarding electronic transmission of information and data within the entire logistics chain.
IPCSA operates in more than 50 countries and exchanges information on more than 250 ports and airports. The Association works to improve the competitiveness of ports and simplify administrative procedures by participating in the development of standards, technical and practical guidelines for port systems.
The establishment of PCS is another big step of BPI Co. towards the complete introduction of e-government in maritime transport. PCS is used to standardize the exchange of messages between members of the port community and to centralize all port information. This will allow for substantial lessening the bureaucratic environment by reducing the large number of paper documents required for the international carriage of goods by sea. The entire logistics chain will be covered – Customs Agency, DG Border Police, Executive Agency Maritime Administration, Border Control Directorate at the BFSA, terminal operators, freight forwards, shipping agents, representatives of road and rail transport, etc.
