Advanced Systems Control the Risk and Increase Security of the Bulgarian Seaports
19 Юни 2019
New systems based on advanced technologies control the risk and significantly increase the security of the sea ports in Bulgaria. They are built within the framework of the project Design and Construction of Risk Prevention and Security of Sea Ports Technical Systems (RPSSP), financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme on Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014–2020 and with funds from the national budget.
High-tech advanced security system built by Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) already operates on the territory of Varna-East, Varna-West and Burgas- East 1 port terminals.
Within the Project two command and control operation centres for monitoring and management of the complex of technical facilities are built, connected thorough a platform for integrated analytical processing and information visualization that provides technological opportunities for prevention and sustainable suppression of the risk potentials. Modern computer-based security systems allow continuous video surveillance to protect critical infrastructure.
Interoperability of systems allows for more efficient use of national resources to protect the interests of the state at the level of maritime transport security. In order to provide information to the national interested services, a communication line was established between BPI Co. video surveillance systems and the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime at the Ministry of the Interior.
Bulgaria is one of the leading countries in Europe to digitaze information related to port services. In BPI Co. a number of high-tech navigation systems are in operation – the maritime safety and security system – VTMIS, river information system in the Bulgarian stretch of the River Danube – BULRIS, the National Centre for Electronic Documentation of Maritime Tramsport, known as Single Window and others.
