Newly-Built by BPI Co. System guarantees security not only at port and at national level but also at European level

The newly built by Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) advanced video surveillance system is not just port, urban, or national. It is European and guarantees the security of the European Union in terms of the fact that Bulgaria is an external border. This was made clear by words of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rosen Zhelyazkov during the final press conference on the project Design and Construction of Risk Prevention and Security of Sea Ports Technical Systems (RPSSP). The event took place on June 21, 2019 in the city of Burgas in the building of the built by BPI Co. Vessel Traffic Management and Information Service Coastal Centre.
Our maritime city has long needed a system to help secure the city, said categorically Dimitar Nikolov, Mayor of Burgas Municipality. He suggested that the security system built by BPI Co. should be linked to the Municipality’s CCTV surveillance system.
With the high-tech video surveillance system, not only the port in Burgas, but also the whole seaside city becomes more secure place to live, said the Director General of BPI Co. Anguel Zabourtov. He explained that BPI Co. is actively cooperating with all the services that are relevant to the country’s security. Zabourtov added that the ambition of BPI Co. is for all the systems built by the Company to be integrated with other systems in the country and specified that so far it has been successful.
The Project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme on Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014–2020 and with funds from the national budget. Within the Project two command and control operation centres for monitoring and management of the complex of technical facilities are built, connected thorough a platform for integrated analytical processing and information visualization that provides technological opportunities for prevention and sustainable suppression of the risk potentials. The high-tech advanced security system already operates on the territory of Varna-East, Varna-West and Burgas- East 1 port terminals.
