The clear definition of the problem and the open talk about it are the first step in solving it, and in some cases - even half of the solution. When many people unite around one cause and follow one direction, it is a guarantee of success. While progressing towards the common goal is slower, advancement is becoming increasingly apparent on the horizon. So we have to talk about the problems of the Danube openly, in order to be heard.
Around this idea the teams of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Co. on the projects DBS Gateway Region and DAPhNE got united. They gathered in joined workshop to discuss the challenges and the development of the Danube – Black Sea, what has been achieved so far and especially what is yet to come.
The projects Regional and Transport Development in the Danube-Black Sea Region towards a Transnational Multiport Gateway Region /DBS Gateway Region/ and Danube Ports Network /DAPhNE/ have a number of common objectives: strive for a more sustainable transport system, a better business environment and attract new business partners and cargo from and to the Danube region. Both projects have set the ambitious task of aging infrastructure and ancient intermodal services, which limit the potential of the water transport, to remain in the past.
With the implementation of DBS Gateway Region project, concrete proposals will be made for future infrastructure projects and the Danube Ports Network built under the DAPhNE project will enable the ports to reach their full potential in lively economic centres.
