Prime Minister Boyko Borisov made a demonstration to the media on the fuel road in Bulgaria from the ship to the gas stations. He explained how the state controls the movement of fuel in Bulgaria at an open working meeting, which was held on 08.02.2019 in the building of GD Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC) at the Ministry of Interior. The Prime Minister stressed that the movement of each tanker, even of each boat, is recorded by the monitoring systems of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.). In order for the control to be even more complete, the whole database from the Vessel Traffic Management and Information Costal Centres in Burgas, Varna and Ruse, which he personally opened three years ago, is already accessible in Sofia, the Prime Minister added.

The event was attended by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rosen Zhelyazkov, Interior Minister Mladen Marinov, Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov, Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov, Chairperson of the Budget and Finance Committee at the National Assembly Menda Stoyanova, the Chairman of the Monitoring Committee on the Revenue Agencies and Combating the Parallel Economy and Smuggling at the National Assembly Emil Dimitrov, the Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov, the Director General of BPI Co. Anguel Zabourtov, as well as the Heads of all responsible institutions along the chain.

Once entering the sea spaces of the Republic of Bulgaria, the ships fall within the scope of the vessel traffic management and information system /VTMIS/ operating in BPI Co. It helps track the movement of vessels in the territorial sea and the adjacent area. BPI Co. also operates other high-tech navigation systems – Single Window, better known as One-Stop Service, River Information System in the Bulgarian stretch of the River Danube – BULRIS, as well as the newly built system for risk prevention and security enhancement on the territory of the seaports.

The VTMIS, BULRIS and Single Window systems are accessible from other state bodies as the General Directorate Border Police at the Ministry of Interior, the Customs Agency, the Executive Agency Maritime Administration and others.
