Navigation in Bulgarian ports, presented on a modern interactive map, brought an award to Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Co. on the 20th World GIS Day. The distinction is in the category Travel and Tourism in the national maps’ competition titled Rediscovering Bulgaria with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

The map tells about the high-tech and sophisticated ship traffic management systems developed by BPI Co., as well as their ancestors with everlasting charm – the headlights. The award was received by the Head of Public Relations and Protocol Department Mariela Ganchovska.

The interactive maps help us to tell one exciting story in a new way by combining different web maps, accompanied with text, photos and multimedia content. The winners of the competition will be published on the Bulgarian National Geographic site.

The grand 20th anniversary of the World GIS Day was celebrated on November 14 in Sofia, where hundreds of world experts gathered together to present the latest developments, solutions and best practices in the field of Geographic Information Systems and their application in different spheres. Official organizer of the event is the company leader in the field of GIS ESRI-Bulgaria.
