26 Юни 2018

“There are seafarers and there are admirers on land.

   And there is nothing average.“

With a very sunny mood and exciting summer emotions, Varna celebrated International Seafarers’ Day on June 25, 2018. The Lord of the Seas and Oceans arrived specially for the holiday with his group in the Bulgarian Black Sea capital to meet the youngest seafarers. On board Kaliakra, the children received a sea baptismal from King Neptune. And in order the festive mood to be even cheerful and the children’s smiles even bigger, Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Co. delights the kids with a stroll through the gulf of Varna with the emblematic sailing ship Kaliakra as well as with many presents.

The celebration of the Seafarers’ Day continued with a festive concert by the representative Naval Brass Orchestra. Seafarers and their relatives, townsmen and guests of the city, involved with the sea idea, filled the Summer Theatre.  The Director General of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Co. Anguel Zabourtov handed over the special prize of BPI Co. to the national competition “Track in Sea”. The prize was given to the poetess Galina Ivanova for the poems “Monologue of a Penelope”, “Come with the blizzard…” and “Letter in mind“.

“The passion of the sea and the longing of the shore go hand in hand”. BPI Co. supported the composition “Expectation”, now we will support the Monument of the seafarer”- commented from the stage of the Summer Theatre Anguel Zabourtov.

The holiday is officially proclaimed by the United Nations (UN) and aims to highlight the importance of the seafaring profession globally. The official celebration, organized by the Maritime Community in Varna with the support of the Municipality of Varna and BPI Co., took place for the sixth consecutive year.
