Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) received the most prestigious international award in the field of GIS technologies for the implementation of the integrated monitoring and information system for Black Sea. The special award was given to the Director General of BPI Co. Mr. Anguel Zabourtov by Ms. Evgenya Karadjova CEO of ESRI Bulgaria. The MISBS project of BPI Co. was praised among more than 100 000 international GIS technology projects.

The official ceremony that awards organizations in Bulgaria that work hard to implement Geospatial Technologies in Bulgaria and realize strategic GIS achievements was held on 15 November 2017 on the occasion of the World GIS Day.

This is not the first award for the real-time monitoring and information system for Black Sea. The successful project has won two more awards: for outstanding merits in the area of Geospatial Technologies in Bulgaria (World GIS Day 2016) and for a special contribution to the development of eco-friendly modern technologies in the competition IT Project of the Year 2016.

The project MISBS was recognized by the GIS community as early as July 2017 when ESRI President  Mr. Jack Dangermond  presented the system to over 16000 people in the industry as an example of good practice in the field of modelling and environmental assessment. This happened during the 37^th ESRI User Conference held in San Diego, California.

The Global GIS Day is held in our country for the 19^th consecutive year at the initiative of ESRI Bulgaria.
