Europe’s largest sailing event for 2017 gathered around 300 contestants from 45 countries in Burgas

The Director General of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company Mr. Anguel Zabourtov was among the official guests at the awards ceremony of the European sailing championship “Optimist 2017“. Europe’s largest sailing event for 2017, which took place with the support of BPI Co., gathered in Burgas nearly 300 contestants aged up to 15 years from 45 countries. Apart from Europe, there were representatives of countries such as USA, Argentine, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China and others.
The winner of the boys was Stefan Yil of Serbia, and Dana Matsuchelli of Argentina ranked first among the girls. Our national team was also excellent, and 12-year-old Todor Tuzlukov ranked 15th among the boys, this being the best result achieved so far by a Bulgarian competitor of European championship “Optimist“. The sailors were judged by an international jury from Mexico, Poland, Croatia, Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria.
The official closing and awarding of winners took place at Burgas port near the Passenger Terminal, while Anguel Zabourtov handed the cups to some of the winners.
The biggest sailing regatta of the Bulgarian Sailing Federation calendar was held in the period 30.07.2017 – 06.08.2017. The organizer of the prestigious sporting event is Yacht Club Port Burgas.
