18 Юли 2017

On the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Burgas will be presented the exhibition “France – Bulgarie: Redécouverte de la Mer Noire. Les débuts ”. It will be arranged in the modernized by Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) building of Magazia 1 at the port terminal Burgas-East 1. The opening will be on July 28, 2017 (Friday) at 6 p.m. The organisers of the event are the Diplomatic Institute to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the International Trade and Culture Centre GEOPAN – Burgas. The exhibition will be hosting in Burgas with the assistance of the District Administration, the Municipality of Burgas and under the special patronage of BPI Co.

The exhibition will present the results of cooperation between French and Bulgarians, dating back to centuries. The exhibition will tell us the history of the ports of Burgas and Varna, built by French builders, of the sea lights, built by a French company more than 100 years ago; it will show us old geography and sea maps of the French cartographic school, journals of travellers and diplomats, etc.

Special attention is, of course, given to the Port of Burgas. It is presented with four panels, and on the poster of the exhibition there is a map of Burgas and Burgas Bay, made two hundred years ago by the Frenchman Tetbu de Marini.

The construction of the port of Burgas is inextricably linked with the French port authorities, architects, engineers and constructors, so the place of exhibition was not chosen accidently. By modernizing the building of Magazia 1, BPI Co. retained the authentic Eiffel-type structure, storing the history.

The original exhibition is presented with great interest in Paris in 2016 on the occasion of the National Day of Bulgaria. Special guest at the exhibition opening in Burgas will be the French Ambassador H.E. Mr. Eric Lebedel.
