Neptune baptized little sailors aboard Kaliakra

Nearly 50 little sailors, including children of employees of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure   Company and laureates of the Children of the Sea competition, received sea baptism form Lord of Neptune’s seas and oceans king. The ceremony was held in Varna Bay on board the emblematic sailing boat Kaliakra.

So many children’s smiles and sunny summer emotions commemorated the solemn celebration of International Day of the Seafarer – June 25 in Varna. And in order for the feast to be more joyful, the kids were delighted by BPI Co with many gifts and delicious treats.

The event organized by the Bulgarian Association of Marine Captains and Maritime Professional union with the support of the Municipality of Varna, the maritime industry and the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company, was held for the fifth consecutive year. The solemn celebration the Day of the Seafarer continued with a holiday concert in the Summer Theatre in the presence of sailors and their relatives, villagers and guests of the city who were involved with the sea idea. There they were awarded also the laureates in the national contest Vestige in the Sea.

The winners’ titles in the Photography section were handed over by the Head of Public relations and Protocol Department to BPI Co Ms. Mariela Ganchovska.

The holiday is officially proclaimed by the United Nations aims to highlight the exceptional importance of the seafaring profession. This year it went under the motto: Seafarers Matter.
