Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski, tMayor of Burgas Municipality Dimitar Nikolov and Director General of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company Anguel Zabourtov officially opened the new building of Coastal Traffic Management and Information Center in Burgas on August o8, 2015.

The building is constructed within the project Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) - phase 3, co-funded by ERDF on Operational Programme “Transport” 2007-2013. Contractor of the engineering (design and construction) is the consortium “Midia-Diana Commerce” with Head of Designers team Architect Nikolay Simeonov from “Vamos” Ltd. and the high-tech equipment is supplied and installed by the consortium “Translink”.

The Coastal Vessel Traffic Management Information Center (CVTMIC) in Burgas will serve the traffic in the sea areas south of Cape Emine, if needed there is option to serve also the northern region. The innovative center will monitor compliance with the system for movement in the maritime space of the Republic of Bulgaria, will collect information and coordinate the activities of vessels in order to avoid situation that can lead to accidents, collision, grounding and sinking of ships and assist the search and rescue of human life at sea. 

On August 15 will be officially opened the newly built CVTMI Center in Varna and the event coincide with the feast of the city. From the new building in the sea capital will be exchanged information with the vessels navigating in the maritime spaces of the Republic of Bulgaria, north of Cape Emine, but if necessary there will be an option to serve the traffic in the south. Between the two CVTMI Centers there will be continuous exchange of information

The project Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) - phase 3 comes to the total amount of 39 145 117,96 BGN.  The project implementation will ensure continuous monitoring of the maritime spaces of the Republic of Bulgaria, creating prerequisites for increasing efficiency in maritime search and rescue vessels in distress; increasing the provision of information to improve conditions for protection of sea and coastal areas from contamination; collection and provision of information required for shipping to all departments that need it, and create conditions for maximum effective shipping business.
