07 Юли 2015

Today, July 7, 2015, Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company concluded a contract with the consortium DZZD Magazia Engineering, selected for contractor of project Design and Implementation of engineering for site Modernization of building Warehouse 1 at terminal East-1 Port of Burgas.

The project implementation cost is 3 799 915,74 BGN. The winner consortium assignment includes preparation of technical design under approved terms of reference and implementation of the project planned construction works for the building modernization. Preliminary studies will be drawn up at the discretion of the designer; investment project in phase technical design, supervision during construction and production of workpieces, supply of materials, equipment, machinery and facilities required for the site commissioning. Besides the construction work will be carried out also 72-hour tests of the building. Execution deadline on the order of assignment is 480 days.

Following the assignment of BPI Co. after the reconstruction Warehouse 1 will be a maritime center with exhibition, entertainment and educational functions. The Contracting Authority wishes the new building to maintain the space and the form of the old one, but to perform a new function with no superstructure. The first level will locate a restaurant, lobby – waiting rooms, offices, security and information, ticket centre, a cafe, shops, and exhibition – museum part and a shop. It is recommended to be built a second gallery level where to be placed children’s center, multipurpose hall, offices, and a library.

The functions of the reconstructed Warehouse1 are envisaged in two directions – as cabotage traffic reception and a maritime exhibition and entertainment center. At about 320sq. m. will be located reception area with an information center, including arrivals and departure lounge for cabotage ships passengers with capacity of about 150 people. The rest of the building shall be turned into exhibition, entertainment and educational center with a nautical theme, as Burgas lacks such so far. The maritime center should include a main hall for temporary and permanent exhibitions, located on about 460sq.m with capacity for 200 people; multipurpose hall about 220sq.m. for 80-90 people; training rooms at an area of about 200sq.m.; children’s center with capacity of 50 children and an administrative block. There will be a detached area for retail outlets.

Built in 1903, the building of Warehouse 1 is one of the oldest buildings in the port of Burgas. The building is one-story, two-nave, with dimensions 90х30m and an area of 2795sq.m. The building has a historical value because buildings with such structure – metal riveted – are not longer under construction. The building is also envisaged to perform intermodal connections (cabotage) within the water area of the Republic of Bulgaria for the citizens and the guests of the country. This is facilitated by the location of Warehouse 1 – on the territory of terminal Burgas – East in the area of the old quay wall, next to third and forth berthing places. Nearby is the existing Railway station and Bus station – South, which makes possible to perform easy connections between the three service transport modes with a speedy bus (shuttle). The availability of regular bust transport from the town to Burgas Airport allows the concept of multimodality to include the air transport– domestic and international.

The Project Design and Implementation of engineering for site Modernization of building Warehouse 1 at terminal East-1 Port of Burgas is part of the Annual Program 2015 of the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company /BPI Co/ and is financed with own funds of BPI Co.
